HMC 6.1.2 Recovery DVD notice
Problem
IBM has discovered that a bad DVD-R image: PN 10N8897, CL0001; EC D76332; HMC RECOVERY DVD #1; V6R1.2 was shipped as part of the HMC Recovery Package (10N8897 DVD #1, 10N8900 DVD #2, and 09P5407 Backup DVD).
These defective DVD shipments were made as part of 7310 and 9119 Box shipments between February 16, 2007, and March 19, 2007, inclusive. As a result, customers are urged to order a replacement DVD #1, P/N 10N8897, as soon as possible.
The other two components, 10N8900 (DVD #2) and 09P5407 (Backup DVD), of the HMC V6R1.2 recovery package are good.
Only DVD #1s that were produced in Montpellier or Dublin before March 20, 2007, are suspect and should be replaced.
Distinguishing a bad DVD #1 from a good DVD #1
Suspect media would have a "Recorded in Ireland or France" on the bottom of the DVD-R label, and a "Created: 2007-03-19" or earlier date, or no date, on the label.
Any media that has "Recorded in USA" on the bottom of the DVD-R label is not suspect
OR
Any media created in any geography, that has "Created: 2007-03-20", or later, date on the label is not suspect.
