Applying Update corrective service packages to the HMC via a remote server

The "HMC Install Corrective Service Wizard" is used to apply Update packages to the HMC (Release updates or Service Pack (SP) updates to a Release).

Notes

  1. Update packages can consist of more than one file (multi-part packages). Each file must be installed in consecutive order. Package order can be determined by the number preceding the .zip file extension, for example: HMC_Update_V7R340_SP2_1.zip, where the number 1 preceding the .zip file extension denotes the first file or volume of the Update Service Pack package.
  2. An Update Release package upgrades the HMC from a lower Release level to a higher release level, for example, MH01109, the HMC Update V7R340 package, upgrades the HMC from HMC 7.3.3.0 to HMC 7.3.4.0. File names for Update Release packages are of the form: HMC_Update_VxRyyy_n.zip, where x is the Version, yyy is the Release and "_n" is the volume number of the file, for example, HMC_Update_V7R340_1.zip is the first volume of the HMC Update V7R340 package.
  3. An Update Service Pack package updates the current HMC Release to the next Service Pack level, for example, MH01163, the HMC V7R340 Service Pack 1 package, updates the HMC from HMC 7.3.4.0 to HMC 7.3.4.0 SP1. File names for Service Pack packages are of the form: HMC_Update_VxRyyy_SPz_n.zip, where x is the Version, yyy is the Release, z is the Service Pack number and "_n" is the volume number of the file, for example, HMC_Update_V7R340_SP1_1.zip is the first volume of the HMC V7R340 Service Pack 1 package.

Follow these steps to install an Update package directly from a remote server.
