HMC Conversion from HMC V6 R1.2 to HMC V7 R3.1.0
One of the following upgrade methods must be used, which will require the minimum HMC level to be V6R1.2.
- Remote Upgrade
- Requirements: Remote SSH access to HMC. FTP Server with HMC Upgrade files.
- This method allows a user to upgrade a HMC from remote location. See remote upgrade Installation instructions at the HMC technical support web site.
- Local media - Hard Drive Upgrade Data
- Requirements: DVD Recovery Media
- This method saves the current configuration to the local hard drive, then performs the Upgrade from local DVD media. See the upgrade instructions at the HMC technical support web site.
- Local media - DVD-RAM Upgrade Data
- Requirements: Blank DVD-RAM, DVD Recovery media.
- This methods saves the current configuration on the local drive and DVD-RAM media, then performs an install from local DVD media. During the install (or after), the Upgrade Data from DVD-RAM can be restored on the HMC. See the upgrade instructions at the HMC technical support web site.
- Network Upgrade
- Requirements: A system on the network, configured as an HMC network upgrade server, with TFTP, DHCP and NFS servers.
- This method saves the current configuration on the local hard drive, then performs the upgrade by allowing the HMC to boot and upgrade from another server on the network. See Upgrade to HMC V7R3.1.0 over the network at the HMC technical support web site.
