Microcode Discovery Service

Information gathered by MDS

The data file created by Inventory Scout and used by MDS contains some proprietary customer information, including:

• Host name
• AIX level
• Names and levels of installed software
• Names of installed devices
• Levels of installed microcode

The Microcode Discovery Service uses this information to customize the report returned to you. Since the above information must be transmitted across the network, an SSL connection is used to encrypt the data sent to IBM. If you do not want to send this information to IBM you may use the Microcode DVD-ROM.

Note: Passwords, user IDs, and application data are NOT captured by this service. The data that is gathered will only be used to generate your customized report. Once your report is created, the file transmitted to IBM will be deleted. Data will not be sent to any other party or used for any other purpose.
